Short but sweet is the name of the game.  Slabby, blocky top roped routes with plenty of fun arętes, dihedrals, wee roofs and even a crack or two.  Only a few kms from Olgii.  The 
Text Box: Here are a few crags that we’ve stumbled onto.  Though most of the area is the flakey remains of a former seabed, a few gems stand out.  Quartzite formations around Kara Sai and near Nogoon Nuur beg further exploration, while solid outcroppings near Olgii offer easy to moderate climbing.

Pink quartzite formations an hour from Olgii currently under development. Recent additions include the 200 foot south face of the Mouse’s Tooth (5.8) and Between Shadow & Light (5.10a, pro to 4 inches).

Text Box: of a broad valley is home to western Mongolia’s first route, Oidagidai (5.9), which includes a short lieback to a small roof.  Fun for the whole family!

BIRTH ROCKS
This formation shelters an encampment where nomads bring their flocks for Text Box: birthing each spring (also named for my wife who was five months pregnant when we first climbed here). A few top roped routes in the area are Maternal Instinct (5.9) & Dilated to 90cm (5.8 chimney).
